Why was Toro 2 difficult to clean?
The difficulty concerned the epic Toro 2 cartridge, where the PAL shell’s grooves were too demanding for the available demo tool power. The developer acknowledged that combination in the cleaning discussion.
That is a specific cartridge and tool limitation. It does not mean every cartridge near 99% has the same cause.
What changed in Patch 3?
The October Demo Patch 3 changed the Toro 2 epic cartridge from PAL to NTSC, using a shell shape without the troublesome grooves. The developer followed up in the discussion to confirm that the change was included.
This patch changes the cartridge’s shape. It does not unlock stronger demo tools or turn the expensive upgrades into purchases you need to make.
Autocomplete and the later update
Autocomplete was still disabled in Patch 4, but returned in the October 8 update, with a toggle in accessibility settings. The demo FAQ describes a 99.5% trigger for remaining dirt and liquids.
The shell change and autocomplete are separate updates. Neither establishes how an already-started old save will handle its cartridge, or guarantees a solution to every other 99% cleaning problem.
